5th Muharram Dastan-e-Karbala The Journey of Truth

Asslamoalaikum, The tragedy of Karbala is one of the most heart-wrenching and powerful chapters in Islamic history. Occurring in the sacred month of Muharram, this historic event marks the ultimate sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who stood fearlessly against tyranny and injustice. On the plains of Karbala, in 61 AH (680 CE), Imam Hussain, along with his family and a small group of loyal companions, faced the brutal army of Yazid. Denied water, surrounded by enemies, and offered no escape, they chose martyrdom over surrender, preserving the values of truth, justice, and faith.

This video takes you through the sorrowful yet inspiring journey of Karbala—each day of Muharram carrying profound pain and unmatched bravery. From the departure of Imam Hussain from Madinah to the heart-shaking events of Ashura, we honor the legacy of those who gave their lives for Islam.

So sisters brothers friends and elders today we will be the described events of 5th Muharram in this video.

On the 5th of Muharram, the camp of Imam Hussain (A.S) in Karbala stood firm in its resolve, even as the noose of Yazid’s army tightened. The air was thick with tension and uncertainty, as news spread that Umar ibn Sa’ad, the commander of Yazid's forces, had received reinforcements from Kufa. Obaidullah ibn Ziyad, the governor of Kufa, had ordered significant military support to ensure the siege of Imam Hussain (A.S) and his companions was strong enough to force submission or wipe them out entirely. He sent additional troops under the command of commanders like Shimr ibn Dhil-Jawshan and Amr ibn Hajjaj, further increasing the pressure around Hussain’s camp. By this day, the enemy army had grown to nearly 20,000 soldiers, while the family and supporters of Hussain (A.S) remained under a hundred. Yet, the spirit within Hussain’s camp was unshaken, and preparations for the worst were quietly being made.

On this day, Umar ibn Sa’ad also received orders to prevent Hussain (A.S) and his family from accessing water from the Euphrates River, which was only a short distance from the camp. Though the actual placement of the guards on the river would occur the next day, the threat was now imminent. The children in Hussain’s camp could already feel the weight of thirst creeping in, and the women began rationing the little water they had left. This day marked the beginning of a brutal tactic — using thirst as a weapon against the Prophet’s family.

Despite the worsening conditions, Imam Hussain (A.S) continued his mission of guidance and patience. He gathered his followers and once again reminded them of the purpose of their stand. He told them that Yazid was trying to destroy the essence of Islam, and that the sacrifice they were preparing for was not for political gain but to protect the values of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He encouraged them to be steadfast and patient, reminding them that suffering in this world was temporary, but the reward in the hereafter was eternal.

Imam Hussain (A.S) also received some messages from individuals within the enemy camp, including a few soldiers who secretly admired his stand for truth. Some of these individuals had once pledged allegiance to his father, Imam Ali (A.S), and now felt ashamed of being part of Yazid’s army. Though not many of them had the courage to defect publicly, some quietly left during the night and joined Hussain’s side, further proving that the light of truth could still touch hearts even in a dark battlefield.

The 5th of Muharram also saw the growing anxiety among the women and children of the Ahlul Bayt. Lady Zainab (S.A), the sister of Hussain (A.S), took on the role of comforting the women and ensuring the younger children remained brave. Her strength and dignity became a source of courage for all in the camp. Mothers began preparing their young sons mentally and spiritually for the possibility of martyrdom in the coming days. These were not ordinary people; they were the family of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and they were facing their trial with the utmost sabr (patience) and tawakkul (trust in Allah).

As the sun set on the 5th of Muharram, the night brought no rest. The ground was hard, the air dry, and the sound of enemy horses and clanking armor haunted the silence. Yet inside the camp of Hussain (A.S), the night was filled with prayer, reflection, and remembrance of Allah. The loyal companions spent their time in worship, seeking strength for the trials ahead. Imam Hussain (A.S) continued to write letters and send final messages to some tribes and dignitaries, inviting them to join his cause or reflect on the truth before it was too late.

The events of the 5th Muharram marked a significant shift in the timeline of Karbala. The walls of injustice were closing in, but the spirit of the Ahlul Bayt and their companions was growing brighter and firmer. Each moment drew them closer to the ultimate sacrifice — a sacrifice that would echo through the centuries and awaken the conscience of humanity.

As we remember the heartbreaking events of Karbala, let us not only remember the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, but also strive to embody their values ??of truth, justice, and unwavering faith. Their legacy is a timeless reminder that standing up against oppression is the duty of every believer. May their courage inspire us to live with dignity and righteousness. Amen.
