Who Were The Moabites?

The Moabites are descendants of Moab, the son of Lot, through his older unmarried daughter (Gen. 19:30-38). The name appears in Assyrian records and scripture. Moab is mentioned in the Old Testament. The Moabites were a group of people who lived in the land of Canaan, which is modern-day Jordan. The land is mountainous and lies alongside much of the eastern shore of the Dead Sea.
Prophet Noble Drew Ali, founder of the first Islamic organization in America and the Moorish Divine & National Movement, explicitly claims that the Moors (so-called "Blacks") of America were descendants of the ancient Moabites. Ali made the claim that the Moors were the ancient Moabites and these same Moabites founded the Holy City of Mecca.
