John Gotti, known as “The Dapper Don” and later “The Teflon Don,” was one of the most iconic figures in American organized crime.

As boss of the Gambino crime family, Gotti was known for his charisma, style, and boldness — often flaunting his power in public and beating case after case in the 1980s.

But his luck ran out when his underboss, Sammy Gravano, turned informant.

In 1992, Gotti was convicted on multiple charges and sentenced to life in prison, where he died in 2002.
