Vito Genovese was a cold, calculating mob boss who sought to dominate Cosa Nostra at any cost.

After serving as underboss to Lucky Luciano, Genovese seized control of the Luciano crime family, later renamed the Genovese family in his honor.

Known for his ambition and brutality, he helped organize the infamous Apalachin Meeting of 1957 — which backfired and exposed the mafia to national attention.

Genovese died in prison, but his legacy continues through the powerful family that still bears his name.
