Murder Incorporated was the name the press gave to the group of mob #hitmen who operated as the enforcement arm of the Mafia from the 1930s through to the 1940s. The group had a number of prominent members, including Harry "Pittsburgh Phil" Strauss who was one of the most prolific members, committing over 100 - 500 murders.

The killers were paid a regular salary as retainer as well as an average fee of $1,000 to $5,000 per killing.
