I'm going to give a little more information today just in case it helps anyone.

Lure: super salt plus 8” magnum lizard junebug/ red, 9 pack
Cast distance about 40 yards
Temp 74-84
Wind calm
Time 7:35a
Technique slow return, drag crank with jumps and pops
Sound. mostly quiet
Reel cleaned and oiled 2 days ago, note that it is a left handed reel
Line - braided 15 lb with 30 lb fluorocarbon leader line with an Alberta Knott and
Bass weight approximately 2 lbs, nice fish!

Hooked bass; felt a hit and left it unattended giving some slack then set the hook. Slow reel in with good fight, increased the drag while reeling. O3 Hook was bent and straightened - put a new purple lizard lure on. What a fun fish to catch, Fish ON!!

One thing I like is to have at least one left handed and one right handed reel. That way when I’m fishing a bank and I can use the left handed reel when I cast right and the right handed reel when I cast left. Just a thought, but not required.

Another note: I don’t know if it matters but several of the last bass caught in the past week or so had similar unique conditions. That condition was that I was largely or partly hidden from view behind a tree or tall shrubs. So I would at least suggest trying that because if that’s all that makes the difference then I’d do it every time if I could.

So I let the camera run after the catch and release. The lure was gone so I had to put another on and that’s what you have to do in the field sometimes. Bass Cam and now Lure Cam too. : )
