Day 181: Songs of Ascent — Psalms 120–125 | Bible In A Year (CSB)

These psalms, known as the Songs of Ascent, were sung by pilgrims journeying to Jerusalem. They reflect themes of distress, dependence, protection, and peace. As we walk through Psalms 120–125, we’re reminded that our help comes from the Lord, our security is in Him, and that trust in God is the foundation for enduring peace and unity.

Questions:
1. Psalm 121 declares, “My help comes from the Lord.” What does it look like to truly rely on God for help rather than trying to control outcomes ourselves?

2. Psalm 125 says that those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion—unshakable. How can we remain steadfast in faith when everything around us feels uncertain?

3. These psalms were sung during a physical journey toward God’s temple. How can we cultivate a similar mindset of spiritual pilgrimage in our everyday lives?
