We stayed out at night till the stars came alive
Chased fireflies where dreams never died
Barefoot hearts on a gravel road
Laughing loud as the stories were told

Underneath the summer's velvet sky
Time stood still as the world passed by
Not a worry not a care in sight
Just the glow of fireflies lighting up the night

Oh we ran like the wind through the tall grass
Living in a moment we hoped would last
Every spark a memory caught in flight
Chasing fireflies by the pale moonlight

The crickets sang our secret song
While shadows danced where we belonged
With every step and l every mile
We reveled in the summers smile

Oh the fireflies they knew our names
Flickering lights in childhood's flame
Every glow was a fleeting friend
A spark that burned we wanted to never end
