Journalist Has Affair With Attractive Woman He Regrets After Finding Her Secrets.

Porter Wren's is a journalist and crime writer for a daily publication in New York City with an enviable history for being an attentive listener. The publication has recently been acquired by releasing mogul Hobbs, and one evening he decides to join an after-work gathering held by Hobbs. Caroline Crowley, an influential lady Porter recalls from news articles about her partner Simon's death, approaches him. Simon, an award-winning movie producer, would sneak off at night to capture life as it really was. The corpse was located in a structure that had been recently destroyed. The place was closed and gated off, so no one knew how the deceased person got there.
At Caroline's flat, Porter is shown classified police documents concerning Simon's unresolved murder. She has Porter look into it, and then she slowly entices him over a number of encounters. Porter eventually caves to the pressure from his bored wife Lisa and kids. After learning of Porter's romance with Caroline, Hobbs threatens Porter's wife and coerces him into conducting an inquiry on his behalf.
