~ 'Karl Marx Stadt' by Megapolis (Мегаполис). German song, Russian band.
~ 'Children of the Underground' by Zulya. Haunting and somewhat disturbing and bleak portrait of life in the USSR. Excellent 1930s-style old Soviet animation.
~ 'Kaptain Kolesnikov' by DDT (капитан Колесников - ДДТ). Quite the sad song of the Kursk submarine disaster.
~ 'Sweet Home Alabama' (and the Song of the Volga Boatmen) by the Leningrad Cowboys and the Alexandrov Red Army Ensemble (Finnish R&R band, but real Russians on backup vocals)
~ 'Phantom' by Chizh (Фантом Чиж). Backdoor proving that Soviet Air Force pilots flew for North Vietnam? Chizh is pretty matter-of-fact. 'ATAS!' by Lyube (Любэ). I'm getting the whole 'Starsky and Hutch Visit Moscow' vibe.
~ 'Bound by One Chain' by Nautilus Pompilius (Скованные одной цепью - Наутилус Помпилиус) The video used is actually from a 1995 Japanese series titled 'Memories of the Future'.
