1 Year Jabbiversary
In this episode, I reflect on one year of using Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and share the profound changes in my health, habits, and mindset. Starting from a point of severe health risks during the pandemic, I took the leap into medical weight loss after years of struggling through traditional methods. This episode offers a personal and practical breakdown of my journey, from the early days of hesitation to becoming a healthier, more active version of myself.
Top Topics:
Facing Health Realities and Taking the First Step
At the onset of the pandemic, I was struggling with high blood sugar, asthma, exhaustion, and obesity. After years of trying and failing to lose weight through conventional dieting and exercise, I was officially diagnosed with diabetes. Faced with limited options, I discussed the possibility of starting Mounjaro with my doctor and decided to try a new path.
Tracking Progress and Navigating Side Effects
I monitored my health meticulously—from blood sugar levels and calorie intake to sleep and bathroom habits. Within weeks, I reversed my diabetes, and over the year, my cholesterol, blood pressure, and sleep quality drastically improved. I also talk about dealing with side effects like constipation, nausea, and sleep disruption, and how magnesium and hydration became crucial allies.
Building New Habits and Mental Shifts
I didn’t just change physically—I transformed mentally. From measuring food to adjusting my social habits, I built consistency in protein intake, hydration, and exercise. I reflect on ADHD-related eating patterns and how Mounjaro helped reduce impulsive eating, allowing me to stay on track. I also tackled the emotional aspects of weight loss, like clothing changes and overcoming self-perception.
Dosing Journey and Strategic Planning
I detail each dosing stage—from 2.5 to 10 mg—and how each affected weight loss and side effects. My strategy was always to stretch each dose's effectiveness without rushing to the maximum. Now at 176 pounds, my goal is to reach 127. I’m also preparing for the transition off Mounjaro, looking at research, planning a tapering approach, and hoping for the low-dose pill option.
Takeaways:
This journey taught me that lasting health transformation is not about shortcuts—it's about finding the right medical support, being brutally honest with yourself, and embracing sustainable habits. Mounjaro was a game-changer, but it’s only one part of a larger lifestyle commitment. Whether it’s handling food while camping, lifting weights, or managing social pressure, every choice matters. I'm focused now on maintaining progress, understanding my body, and planning a future that includes confidence, adventure, and good health.
