The First Match of Five Match Test series 2025 between India and England is underway at Headingley Leeds in London. This match is being played from 20th June to 24th June 2025. In this match England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first.
On Day four the match saw a dramatic turn of events with India seizing control through a combination of resilient batting and exceptional bowling and are at the brink of winning the test match.
India in their first innings were bowled out after pilling up huge total of 471 runs in 113 overs. In reply England gave a befitting reply and managed to score 465 runs in 100.4 overs and conceded nominal lead of 6 runs only in first innings.
India in their second innings scored 364 runs in 96 overs and gave target of 371 runs to England to win. At stumps on day four England were 21 runs for no loss in 6 overs still trailing by 350 runs.
India started the day four from overnight score of 90 runs for the two wickets leading England by 96 runs. The overnight batsmen KL Rahul not out on 47 runs and Shubman Gill batting on 6 runs started the day with caution.
But England started well with Shubman Gill perishing cheaply for 8 runs after adding only two runs to his overnight score. Brydon Carse ended Shubman Gill’s innings and bold him through a masterpiece delivery.
Shubman Gill was third wicket to fall after contributing 8 runs from 16 balls hitting one four. India at this stage were 92 runs for the loss of three wickets.
Then Rishabh Pant walked in early in the day and gave full support to KL Rahul in batting. Both batted beautifully with full conviction and slaughtered the English bowlers all over the Park.
Both completed their respective centuries and added valuable 195 runs from 283 balls for the fourth wicket and brought back India in a commanding position.
Rishabh Pant was endlessly fascinating and scored his second ton of the match to join a select band of six other Indians to have achieved this feat which include Vijay Hazare,Sunil Gavaskar,Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma.
Rishabh Panth made entertaining 118 runs from 140 balls which include 15 fours and three sixes. He eventually holed out to Zak Crawely off the bowling of Shoiab Bashir. Rishabh Pant became just the second wicketkeeper in history of world cricket after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower to make twin centuries in a Test match.
At this stage India were in comfortable position of 287 runs for the loss of four wickets. KL Rahul continued his class and added crucial 46 runs with Karun Nair from 77 balls for the fifth wicket and further strengthened the innings.
Meanwhile KL Rahul completed his ninth century and his seventh century outside the subcontinent. KL Rahul scored his classical century of 137 runs from 247 balls hitting eighteen fours. He was bold by Brydon Carse.
India at this stage were 333 runs for 5 wickets and it looked that India will get a substantial leadand the declare. Karun Nair failed again and was out for 20 runs caught and bold by Chris Woakes.
India batted superbly untroubled en route to 364 runs until a late rush of wickets during the hunt for quick runs occurred. India collapsed from 333 for 5 wickets to 364 all out. India lost last six wickets for 31 runs only including three wickets in four deliveries of Josh Tongu’s one over.
Josh Tongue wrapped up tail in just one over. On first ball of 91st over he removed Shradul Thakur caught by Joe Root after contributing 4 runs. On second ball of the same over he sent back Mohammed Siraj caught by Jamie Smith and on fourth ball this over he bold Jasprit Bumrah for duck.
The lower order batsmen failed again like in the first innings. Prasidh Krishna was last to go out caught by Josh Tongue of the bowling of Shoaib Bashir. He went without scoring. Ravindra Jadeja remained not out on 25 runs from 40 balls hitting 2 fours and one six.
India were all out at 364 runs in 96 overs with overall lead of 370 runs. Thus India gave target of 371 runs to England to win.
For England Brydon Carse and Josh Tongue took three wickets each. Two wickets were taken by Shoaib Bashir. One wicket each was taken by Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes.
While chasing the target of 371 runs England openers started with caution and played 6 overs safely for the day.
At stumps on day four England reached to score of 21 runs for no loss. Zak Crawley is unbeaten on 12 runs with Ben Duckett not out on 9 runs. का पार्ट 7
