While Danny Boyle's direction and strong performances—especially from Alfie Williams, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Jodie Comer—shine early on, the film quickly derails with erratic editing, baffling plot choices, and nonsensical world-building courtesy of Alex Garland’s script. What starts as a gritty, emotional father-son survival story devolves into an aimless road trip with questionable logic and a finale that veers into self-indulgent absurdity. Despite a strong opening act, 28 Years Later ultimately collapses under the weight of its own ambition and poor storytelling.
