4th Muharram Dastan-e-Karbala The Journey of Truth

Assalamu Alaikum, The tragedy of Karbala is one of the most heartbreaking and powerful chapters in Islamic history. This historic event, which took place in the holy month of Muharram, marks the immortal sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who stood fearlessly against oppression and injustice. On the plains of Karbala, in 61 AH (680 CE), Imam Hussain, along with his family and a small band of loyal companions, faced the brutal army of Yazid. Stoped from water, surrounded by enemies, and with no offer of escape, he chose martyrdom over surrendering while protecting the values of truth, justice, and faith.

This video takes you through the sorrowful yet inspiring journey of Karbala—each day of Muharram carrying profound pain and unmatched bravery. From the departure of Imam Hussain from Madinah to the heart-shaking events of Ashura, we honor the legacy of those who gave their lives for Islam.

So sisters brothers friends and elders today we will be the described events of 4th Muharram in this video.

On the **4th of Muharram, 61 AH (680 CE)**, the noose around **Imam Hussain ibn Ali (RA)** and his noble caravan tightened further as the plains of **Karbala** witnessed the continued influx of enemy forces sent by the **Umayyad regime** under **Yazid ibn Muawiyah**. This day marked the intensification of the siege, both physically and psychologically. Imam Hussain, along with his family and companions, was now surrounded from all directions, camped on the dry, barren land far from the waters of the **Euphrates River**. What had started as a spiritual journey for the preservation of Islamic values had now clearly turned into a prelude to martyrdom and sacrifice. The **4th of Muharram** reflects a day of growing oppression, strategic encirclement, and unwavering faith by Hussain and his companions in the face of overwhelming odds.

By this day, the army of **Umar ibn Sa’d** had swelled to over **20,000 troops**, and reinforcements continued to arrive from various parts of the region. The Umayyad authorities were desperate to suppress any symbol of resistance to Yazid’s unjust rule, and Imam Hussain stood as the most powerful and legitimate voice of opposition. His presence in Karbala, refusing to pledge allegiance to a corrupt ruler, threatened the false legitimacy of Yazid’s caliphate. To crush this moral rebellion, the Umayyad regime was ready to use all its military might. Umar ibn Sa’d, although still internally conflicted, continued to follow the orders of **Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad**, the governor of Kufa, whose heart was hardened against Imam Hussain and whose ambition drove him to orchestrate the cruel plan.

On the 4th of Muharram, **new contingents of soldiers arrived**, and each new arrival added to the psychological pressure on Hussain’s camp. The vast sea of tents and banners on the enemy side contrasted starkly with the humble, peaceful camp of Imam Hussain. Despite the overwhelming show of force, there was no fear or weakness in Hussain’s ranks. The **72 companions**, including men of piety, courage, and deep loyalty, remained steadfast. These included some of the bravest souls in Islamic history—**Habib ibn Muzahir**, **Muslim ibn Awsaja**, **Zuhair ibn Qain**, and others—each of whom understood the gravity of their mission and the spiritual value of standing by the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

During this time, Imam Hussain continued his efforts to avoid bloodshed and war. He addressed the enemy soldiers with sincerity, reminding them of his lineage and the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH). He asked them why they were preparing to fight a man whose only crime was standing for justice and truth. Many among the opposing army knew in their hearts that Hussain was on the right path, but fear, greed, and obedience to worldly rulers kept them silent. Yet, even in this sea of darkness, some hearts were touched by Hussain’s words. Over the next few days, **a few soldiers would defect** from the enemy side, including the noble **Hurr ibn Yazid**, who initially led the interception of Hussain but later repented and joined his camp.

Meanwhile, the logistical siege also began to show its cruel face. Although the **total blockade of water** would be enforced in a few days, steps were already being taken to limit access to the Euphrates. Scouts and guards from Yazid’s army began patrolling the riverbanks, keeping close watch to ensure that the family of the Prophet (PBUH) could not reach the water. This cruelty, directed even at children and women, underscored the inhumanity of Yazid’s forces.

The **4th of Muharram** thus represents a day of growing injustice and moral blindness on one side, and unmatched patience and righteousness on the other. Imam Hussain used this time to continue preparing his followers, spiritually and emotionally, for the ultimate test of loyalty and sacrifice. His words, his prayers, and his unshakable faith inspired everyone in his camp to remain firm, no matter the consequences. The world would soon witness a battle not just between two armies, but between truth and falsehood, honor and humiliation, justice and tyranny. The events of the 4th of Muharram were building toward a climax that would echo through centuries, leaving behind a legacy of courage, resistance, and undying faith.

As we remember the heartbreaking events of Karbala, let us not only remember the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, but also strive to embody their values ??of truth, justice, and unwavering faith. Their legacy is a timeless reminder that standing up against oppression is the duty of every believer. May their courage inspire us to live with dignity and righteousness. Amen.
