3rd Muharram Dastan-e-Karbala The Journey of Truth

Assalamu Alaikum, The tragedy of Karbala is one of the most heartbreaking and powerful chapters in Islamic history. This historic event, which took place in the holy month of Muharram, marks the immortal sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who stood fearlessly against oppression and injustice. On the plains of Karbala, in 61 AH (680 CE), Imam Hussain, along with his family and a small band of loyal companions, faced the brutal army of Yazid. Stoped from water, surrounded by enemies, and with no offer of escape, he chose martyrdom over surrendering while protecting the values of truth, justice, and faith.

This video takes you through the sorrowful yet inspiring journey of Karbala—each day of Muharram carrying profound pain and unmatched bravery. From the departure of Imam Hussain from Madinah to the heart-shaking events of Ashura, we honor the legacy of those who gave their lives for Islam.

So sisters brothers friends and elders today we will be the described events of 3rd Muharram in this video.

On the **3rd of Muharram, 61 AH (680 CE)**, the atmosphere in **Karbala** grew increasingly tense and ominous as the siege around **Imam Hussain ibn Ali (RA)** and his small caravan began to tighten. After being forced to stop at the barren plains of Karbala just a day earlier, Imam Hussain and his companions were now facing the reality of being surrounded by an ever-growing army dispatched by **Yazid ibn Muawiyah**, the tyrannical ruler of the Umayyad regime. This day marked a critical turning point in the events that would culminate in the tragic martyrdom on the **10th of Muharram (Ashura)**. The 3rd of Muharram is remembered as the day when the **enemy forces began arriving in large numbers**, forming a ring of hostility around Imam Hussain’s camp, and preparing for confrontation with the purest household of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

One of the key developments on this day was the **arrival of Umar ibn Sa’d**, a commander chosen by the governor of Kufa, **Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad**, to lead the mission against Imam Hussain. Umar ibn Sa’d had initially hesitated to take on this role, being aware of the spiritual and moral standing of Imam Hussain and fearing the eternal consequences of shedding the blood of the Prophet’s grandson. However, lured by promises of political favor and personal ambition—especially the governorship of Rey (in present-day Iran)—he eventually accepted the task. His army began assembling around the camp of Imam Hussain, and over the coming days, it would grow into tens of thousands. The land of Karbala, previously a quiet and desolate plain, was now transforming into the stage of a looming massacre.

On the 3rd of Muharram, **Umar ibn Sa’d began organizing the siege**, issuing orders to position troops around Hussain’s camp. These forces gradually blocked access to the **river Euphrates**, with the clear intent to prevent Imam Hussain, his family, and his companions from obtaining water. This marked the beginning of a **brutal water embargo**, an act of inhumanity especially painful as it targeted not only the men but also **innocent children, women, and the elderly**. Although the complete cutoff of water would take place on the 7th of Muharram, the plan and preparation for this act of cruelty began on this very day.

Imam Hussain, aware of the building tension and the bloodshed that seemed inevitable, continued to seek peace and avoid conflict. He sent messages to the commanders and tried to reason with Umar ibn Sa’d. He reminded them of his lineage, being the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and questioned why a man of his character was being treated like a criminal. He reiterated that he had no desire for war, rebellion, or power, but stood solely for the cause of truth, justice, and the protection of Islamic values that were being corrupted by Yazid's rule.

The spiritual state in Imam Hussain’s camp on the 3rd of Muharram remained one of firm faith, deep reflection, and preparation for sacrifice. **Imam Zain ul-Abideen (RA)**, although ill, observed the growing threat with quiet patience. The companions of Imam Hussain showed no signs of fear or hesitation. Instead, they grew stronger in their resolve, inspired by Hussain’s leadership and by their commitment to upholding the legacy of the Prophet (PBUH).

It is also said that Imam Hussain took time on this day to visit the area around their camp, marking the places where his companions and family members would eventually fall in battle. With great foresight and spiritual awareness, he informed his companions of the events to come. He was preparing their hearts not for mere physical combat, but for the ultimate act of selflessness in the path of Allah.

Thus, the **3rd of Muharram** was a day of psychological warfare, moral testing, and strategic encirclement. It was a day when evil forces continued to gather, blinded by worldly power, and the righteous prepared themselves with prayer, patience, and faith. The events of this day further isolated Imam Hussain and his followers, yet also elevated their spiritual status, laying the groundwork for the eternal lesson of Karbala—a lesson of standing firm in truth against overwhelming falsehood.

As we remember the heartbreaking events of Karbala, let us not only remember the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, but also strive to embody their values ??of truth, justice, and unwavering faith. Their legacy is a timeless reminder that standing up against oppression is the duty of every believer. May their courage inspire us to live with dignity and righteousness. Amen.
