1st Muharram Dastan-e-Karbala The Journey of Truth

Assalamu Alaikum, The tragedy of Karbala is one of the most heartbreaking and powerful chapters in Islamic history. This historic event, which took place in the holy month of Muharram, marks the immortal sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who stood fearlessly against oppression and injustice. On the plains of Karbala, in 61 AH (680 CE), Imam Hussain, along with his family and a small band of loyal companions, faced the brutal army of Yazid. Stoped from water, surrounded by enemies, and with no offer of escape, he chose martyrdom over surrendering while protecting the values of truth, justice, and faith.

This video takes you through the sorrowful yet inspiring journey of Karbala—each day of Muharram carrying profound pain and unmatched bravery. From the departure of Imam Hussain from Madinah to the heart-shaking events of Ashura, we honor the legacy of those who gave their lives for Islam.

So sisters brothers friends and elders today we will be the described events of first Muharram in this video.

The incident of Karbala, one of the most tragic and significant events in Islamic history, began to unfold on the **1st of Muharram, 61 AH (680 CE)**. This sacred month, known for peace and sanctity, became the backdrop for one of the greatest sacrifices made in the path of justice, truth, and the preservation of Islamic values. It marks the beginning of the journey that ended with the martyrdom of **Imam Hussain ibn Ali (RA)**, the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and his loyal companions in the land of Karbala, Iraq.

Following the death of **Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan**, the leadership of the Muslim Ummah was claimed by his son **Yazid**, who demanded allegiance from key figures in the Islamic world, including Imam Hussain. Yazid was known for his tyranny, immorality, and opposition to the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH). Imam Hussain refused to pledge allegiance to Yazid, stating that a corrupt ruler like him should never be allowed to lead the Muslim Ummah. Imam Hussain said, *“I am not rising out of arrogance or rebellion. I only intend to reform the Ummah of my grandfather. I want to enjoin good and forbid evil.”* This stance put Imam Hussain in direct opposition to Yazid’s regime.

As the pressure mounted in Madinah and threats increased, Imam Hussain, along with his family and followers, left for Makkah. There, he received numerous letters from the people of Kufa inviting him to come and lead them in resistance against Yazid’s oppression. Encouraged by their support, Imam Hussain set out for Kufa, accompanied by about 72 men, women, and children. However, Yazid, aware of the potential uprising, sent **Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad** to Kufa, who crushed the movement and turned the city against Hussain. As Imam Hussain neared Kufa, he learned of the betrayal and the murder of his cousin **Muslim ibn Aqeel**, who had been sent ahead as a messenger. Yet, despite knowing the danger, Imam Hussain continued his journey, not for power, but for the preservation of the message of Islam.

On the **1st of Muharram**, Imam Hussain and his caravan reached the barren plains of **Karbala**, where they were intercepted by a large army sent by Yazid. The army, led initially by **Hurr ibn Yazid**, forced Imam Hussain to camp far from the river Euphrates, cutting off his access to water. Despite the harsh treatment, Imam Hussain maintained his dignity, faith, and adherence to Islamic ethics. For ten days, negotiations continued as Imam Hussain tried to avoid bloodshed. He offered several options, including returning to Madinah or moving to a border area, but Yazid's commanders insisted on unconditional submission, which Imam Hussain refused.

During these days, Imam Hussain gathered his companions and reminded them that their struggle was not for personal gain, but for the survival of truth and the revival of the true teachings of Islam. He allowed those who wanted to leave the chance to do so in the darkness of night. However, all remained loyal, choosing death over dishonor. His famous words echo to this day: *“Death with dignity is better than life with humiliation.”*

The 1st of Muharram marked not just the beginning of the Islamic New Year, but also the beginning of the spiritual and moral battle that would climax on the **10th of Muharram (Ashura)**. Imam Hussain’s arrival at Karbala signified the beginning of the end of a journey that would eternally stand as a symbol of resistance against tyranny, of sacrifice for truth, and of unwavering faith in the face of overwhelming oppression.

The incident of Karbala on the 1st of Muharram is not merely a historical moment; it is a living legacy that continues to inspire Muslims around the world to uphold justice, speak against wrongdoing, and never compromise on moral principles. It serves as a reminder that the price of truth may be high, but its value is eternal.

As we remember the heartbreaking events of Karbala, let us not only remember the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, but also strive to embody their values ??of truth, justice, and unwavering faith. Their legacy is a timeless reminder that standing up against oppression is the duty of every believer. May their courage inspire us to live with dignity and righteousness. Amen.
