God prompted the prophet Ezekiel in the Babylonian captivity to prepare the conditions, through prophetic prayer, first for a spiritual resurrection and then for a physical deliverance.
The prophet Ezekiel testifies: “The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and there were very many bones; and indeed they were very dry.” (Ezek 37:1-2)
God stunned the prophet with a question: “Son of man, can these bones live?” (Ezek 37:3) The astonished prophet expressed his faith in God’s omnipotence. Then the Lord commanded him: “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘Behold, I will bring into you a spirit (of repentance), and you shall live. I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and give in you a spirit (of life); and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”
The response to the first stage of prophesying was a great noise. This happens whenever true repentance begins to be proclaimed. But at the same time, the word also brings the first signs of life, namely the restoration of God’s order. Imagine a pile of bones over a large area. The bones are scattered and suddenly each bone starts looking for where it belongs. They move, bump into each other, join together until there is a large body of skeletons. This is the first sign of a certain order, but not yet life.
The prophet continues to speak to these skeletons and sees what happens.
“Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them, but there was no spirit in them.” (v.8)
Now comes the stage of prophesying directly to the Spirit.
“Come from the four winds, O Spirit, and breathe on these slain, that they may live!... So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the Spirit entered them, and they came to life, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.” (v.9-10)
The Apostle Paul exhorts us to desire the gift of prophecy. At the same time, he reminds us that the Church is built on apostles and prophets (cf. Eph 2:20). The Holy Spirit is the same, God’s omnipotence is the same, and so are God’s promises. The condition on our part is obedience to the word of God, that is, obedience of faith. The Mother of Jesus is our supreme model here. At a historic moment that had a profound impact on the whole of humanity, she said her genoito. “I am the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” Mary believed that the Holy Spirit would make the impossible possible. She did not doubt the word of God. On the cross, Jesus gives her to us as our Mother.
We inherit a corrupt nature from Eve, the first woman – our first mother. In Christ’s testament, Mary was given to us as our spiritual mother. The testament is the word of God, which like a two-edged sword penetrates our innermost being, to the point of dividing soul and spirit. That is how deep the disciple by the cross spiritually received the Mother of Jesus, and we should receive her in the same way. The fulfilment of Christ’s testament is in fact a spiritual transplantation of the new heart promised through the prophet Ezekiel. It is a profound mystery linked to the mystery of original sin and the freedom won for us by Christ.
The promise spoken to the serpent – the devil – in Paradise applies to the Mother of Jesus: “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed: she shall crush your head.” This word of God must also be taken seriously. With our Mother Mary, let us pass through this hour of prayer in living faith, proclaiming the prophetic word given to us through the prophet Ezekiel, which we apply as a rheme to the present apocalyptic time. Yes, God offers a way out!
This prophetic prayer has been prayed almost daily by small communities for several years. Join them. Be a prophet or prophetess of God.
Let us briefly explain the prophetic prayer:
First of all, we become aware of the act of God’s omnipotence in the creation of the universe and in the resurrection of Christ.
Praying with gestures that help us concentrate and with faith, we ask for the restoration of the basic conditions of spiritual life, as emphasized by the prophet Ezekiel. It is the spirit of repentance that brings together the scattered bones to form the supporting skeletons. These can then be covered with sinews, flesh and finally skin. The sinews symbolize prayer, the flesh symbolizes apostles’ doctrine, and skin fellowship (Acts 2:42). Fellowship involves the celebration of the seventh day, the day of Christ’s resurrection.
In this prayer, we repeatedly call on the holy name of God, Yehoshua. It is written: “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom 10:13) Jesus commands us to cast out demons and to raise the spiritually dead. Who are the spiritually dead? They are symbolized by dry bones. They are Christians, that is, baptized people, who have received God’s life, but the spirit of the world and sin have killed them spiritually.
In the opening part, God commands the prophet to prophesy to dry bones. The reviving process starts, but the dry bones become nothing more than lifeless corpses. The intervention of God’s Spirit is needed – resurrection. That is why God encourages the prophet to no longer prophesy to the dead, but to prophesy directly to the Spirit of God.
This prophesying to the Spirit is the second stage of the prayer. We prophesy to the four cardinal points successively, as the prophet was commanded. Prophesying to one cardinal point lasts about a quarter of an hour, so in total it is a whole hour in which we turn directly to the Spirit of God.
The most important help for us is the Mother of Jesus and our Mother.
The Mother of Jesus is a new heart, the New Jerusalem in us. In the midst of it is a pillar of light and fire, the place of the almighty power of God. The biblical image of the New Jerusalem is a square. We enter into the name of God in which we are to cast out demons.
Pronouncing the syllables Ye-ho-shu, I realize God’s presence.
Breathing out the first “aaa”, I perceive that I am in a pillar of light and penetrated with God’s light. With the second “aaa”, I perceive union with Jesus, with His death. With the third “aaa”, I am in a pillar of fire – the centre – and my spirit perceives union with the Spirit of God.
Yeeee-hoooo-shuuuu-aaaa-aaaa-aaaa.
The Gospel’s demand is: Cast out demons. I realize that I am in a new heart which is the dwelling place of the Living and Almighty God. The Mother of Jesus is in me, and through me she fulfils this demand, and she commands:
“All demonic forces in this area, I command you by the power of the name of Yehoshua: Depart from here and be cast down to the abyss of hell,
from the air first!” – Mary believes, the Spirit does it – amen!
“Depart from the territory!” – Mary believes, the Spirit does it – amen!
“Depart from all the people!” – Mary believes, the Spirit does it – amen!
“The Immaculate Virgin commands you: And return never again – amen!”
Then we pray with the Mother of Jesus that the Holy Spirit may fill the empty air, territory and all the people in this area.
Then we realize that God created us, we belong to Him, but the devil, who is a liar and a murderer, seduced the first people into sin, and through sin came death. Its tragic fruit is dry bones. In this human tragedy, we turn to the Heavenly Father, who alone gives a way out. He gave His only begotten Son for us. Jesus conquered death by dying on the cross.
We realize the last four words of Jesus on the cross and the power of His death. At the same time we realize that through baptism we have become members of the Mystical Body of Christ, of which Jesus is the head and the Mother of Jesus is the heart. The Mother of Jesus stood at the foot of the cross. She was inwardly crucified with Jesus. In spirit she experienced with Him the moment of His death, that is, the victory over the devil and over original sin. This mystery of union with Christ’s death was given to us in baptism: “In baptism, you were immersed into Christ’s death.” (Rom 6:3) At the moment of death, Jesus cries out: Father – Abba.
Breathing out “Aaaa”, I perceive Christ’s death as a pillar of fire which penetrates me and unites me to the Father.
Breathing out “baaa”, I perceive that through the gate of the New Jerusalem the power of Christ’s death flows into the members of the Church of Christ. Aaaa-baaa…
My right and left hand radiate the power of Christ’s death which flows through the side gates. Aaaa-baaa…
The power of Christ’s death now flows through all the three open gates. Aaaa-baaa…
The prophet is then to turn in obedience to the Holy Spirit, as he was commanded: “Prophesy to the Spirit, prophesy, son of man, and say to Him, ‘Come, O Spirit, and breathe in power on these slain, that they may live!’”
It is in this act of faith that we experience our unity with the Mother of Jesus: “Mary believes, the Spirit does it.” Jesus came through Mary and the Holy Spirit to deliver us from the bondage of sin and to live in us. This is the purpose of reviving and resurrecting dry bones. Therefore, it is necessary to begin prophesying and to persevere, and the spiritually dead nation will be raised to life.
