Martin Luther King Jr. (1929–1968) was a visionary American civil rights leader, Baptist minister, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate who became the face of the nonviolent movement for racial equality in the United States. Guided by the principles of justice, love, and peaceful protest, he led historic campaigns against segregation, voter suppression, and racial injustice.

King’s iconic “I Have a Dream” speech, delivered during the 1963 March on Washington, inspired millions with its call for a world where people are judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. His leadership was instrumental in the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Despite facing constant threats and eventual assassination, Dr. King never wavered in his belief in nonviolence, equality, and the power of hope. His legacy continues to inspire movements for justice and human rights around the world.
