15.Necessity of Infallible Sources, We Need Sources Free From Imperfection |Shaykh Ahmad Musa Jibril

The Shaykh (حفظه الله) stresses that the matter of Tawḥīd, particularly regarding Allah’s Names and Attributes (Al-Asmā’ was-Ṣifāt), must be free from doubt, speculation, and personal interpretation. Because it is the most critical aspect of the religion, it requires infallible sources — and those sources are none other than the Qur’ān and the Sunnah. This was precisely what Imām Al-Bukhāri رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ did in Kitāb At-Tawḥīd: he referred the Ummah back to revelation in the face of theological deviation.

The Shaykh quotes the verse (Surat An-Nisā’, verse 59):
“O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. If you differ in anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day…”
This command is clear: when disputes arise — especially in belief — Muslims must refer the matter to divine revelation, not personal logic or philosophical speculation. The Qur’an is protected from falsehood (Surat Fuṣṣilat, verse 42), and the Sunnah is not mere opinion but divinely inspired (Surat An-Najm, verse 4): “It is not but a revelation revealed.” Thus, Al-Bukhāri’s method was to take us back to the pure, infallible sources, upholding the timeless principle: revelation over reason, submission over speculation.
