The starship Enterprise encountered the sleeper ship Botany Bay in a Star Trek episode called "Space Seed". The Botany Bay, a DY-100-class vessel, was discovered drifting in space, two centuries after its launch from Earth in the 1990s. It carried Khan Noonien Singh and his genetically engineered followers in suspended animation. The Enterprise crew revived them, leading to a confrontation where Khan and his followers briefly took control of the Enterprise before being subdued. The Botany Bay was abandoned, and Khan's group was left to colonize Ceti Alpha V.
