Wii Play - Shooting Range

This is a capture of me playing the Shooting Range mode of Wii Play for the Wii. This was recorded directly from my Wii (not the Wii U).

I had actually been interested in getting Wii Play since shortly after I got my Wii in early December 2006 because it looked like more of Wii Sports. However, I never got around to buying it until 2011, mostly because I made the mistake of listening reviewers who bashed the game. It's a shame I waited so long because the game is actually quite fun. It reminds me of a lot of the simple black box NES games I played as a kid.

Shooting Range is a fun and really challenging target shooting game that takes a little inspiration from NES light gun games such as Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley. However, unless you like pushing for a high score, this mode probably won't provide much replay value.

Nonetheless, I would sometimes use this game to hone my Wii Remote pointer skills and warm up for Conduit 2 clan wars. I found that it improved my reaction time and accuracy quite a bit, even though you can't move the camera in this game.

To earn a platinum medal in this mode, you have score at least 600 points. I scored 621 points, which is not my all-time high score, but still decent overall.

Recorded with the Hauppauge HD PVR and the Wii's component cables at 60 frames per second.

I'm using a Wii Remote.
