By request, this is a noise reduced version. This is as far as I'm willing to reduce the noise without causing distortion to the original audio.

"On Trial" (1928) Reel Four Reconstruction Of Lost Film
Using Vitaphone Disc And Stills

This was Warner Bros. Fourth All-Talking Film and the film portion is currently believed to be lost.

All reviewers complained of the poor scratchy sound quality and muffled and indistinct female voices especially in the first half of the film. You can hear for yourself how some of the female voices go in and out of the microphone's reach in this reel especially that of Vondell Darr. Apparently the voice of Pauline Frederick was the most poorly recorded. She does not, however, appear in this reel.

Cast Heard In This Reel:
Bert Lytell as Robert Strickland
Lois Wilson as May Strickland
Holmes Herbert as Gerald Trask
Richard Tucker as Prosecuting attorney
Jason Robards as Defense attorney
Vondell Darr as Doris Strickland
Edmund Breese as Judge
Edward Martindel as Dr. Morgan
