DEVIL SATAN SERPENT Pt 11

We finished covering all the Devil👹 verses. Before we begin examining all the SATAN verses, let’s see what Scripture says about the Origin of Evil.

In part 10, we saw Scripture draw a sharp contrast between those born of God and those aligned with sin. In 1 John 3:8, John declares, “He that commits sin is of the devil,” not speaking of a literal being but of those who follow a path of rebellion and lawlessness. Christ came to destroy the works of the devil—to break the power of sin, deception, and false religion. Those born of God do not continue in sin because His seed—His Spirit and Word—abides in them (1 John 3:9; cf. Ezekiel 36:26–27, Jeremiah 31:33). The true children of God are known by their righteousness and love, just as Cain, who slew his brother, revealed himself to be “of the wicked one” through his deeds (1 John 3:10–12; Genesis 4:8).
John’s letters further reveal that many antichrists had already entered the world (1 John 2:18; 4:3; 2 John 1:7)—anyone who denies Christ, rejects His incarnation, or opposes His teachings. This spirit of antichrist isn’t a future monster but a present mindset, seen in false teachers, corrupt systems, and deceived Christians alike. Believers are warned to “test the spirits” (1 John 4:1), to stay alert, and to walk in obedience, not in the rebellion of Cain, Balaam, or Korah (Jude 11).
In Jude 9, Michael contends with the devil over the “body of Moses,” symbolizing the struggle over Israel’s true identity and the preservation of God’s law. False teachers—“brute beasts” and “wandering stars”—are called devils (G1228), not because they are demons, but because they slander, deceive, and oppose the truth (Jude 8–10; 2 Peter 2:12). From beginning to end, “the devil” is not a fallen angel, but a description of anyone—man or system—who resists God, opposes truth, and leads others into sin.
As children of God, we are called to resist the devil—not a horned villain, but sin, pride, rebellion, and false teaching. Let us walk in righteousness, love one another, and reject the “way of Cain,” for in this, the true sons of God are revealed.
