Trump broke that alignment.

He didn’t play by their rules. He called out NATO. He questioned endless wars. He ripped up the Iran nuclear deal, yes—but he didn’t start a war with Iran, even when pressured. He even ordered the withdrawal from Syria and pushed hard against the Pentagon’s resistance to leaving Afghanistan.

And that’s exactly why he’s stalling any U.S. intervention in Iran now. Not because he’s weak, but because he knows how the game is played.
