Secretary Pete Hegseth :
"The scope and scale of what occurred last night would take the breath away of almost any American, If you had an opportunity to watch it in real time."

"And I think Tehran is certainly calculating the reality that planes flew from the middle of America and Missouri overnight, completely undetected, over three of their most highly sensitive sites, and we were able to destroy nuclear capabilities."

"We believe that'll have a clear psychological impact on how they view the future, and we certainly hope they take the path of negotiated peace."

The operation, dubbed "Operation Midnight Hammer," involved seven B-2 Spirit stealth bombers leaving from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, alongside Navy submarines firing 30 Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles (TLAMs).

The B-2s dropped a dozen GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOP), 30,000-pound "bunker buster" bombs, designed to penetrate deep underground facilities, targeting Fordow and Natanz.

The strikes, confirmed by President Donald Trump, obliterated Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities.

The Pentagon reported that the mission involved over 125 aircraft, including decoy flights, and successfully degraded Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, with Vice President JD Vance later saying that they cripple Iran's nuclear programs.

The Trump administration initially tried to get Iran to agree to a diplomatic solution, with special envoy Steve Witkoff negotiating in Oman, but then shifted to military action after Iran rejected a 60-day ultimatum for a nuclear deal.

The undetected flight of B-2 bombers from Missouri—over 7,000 miles to Iran—highlighted America's advanced stealth technology.
