Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, tells us here that things that appear to us are not substantial. They're not as solid as they appear, and one of the classic analogies is they are like a rainbow or a mirage. Both rainbows and mirages are similar in that we see something, we see colors, or we see something that looks like something, but if we look very closely or we try to grasp it, there's nothing you can hold or pin down or measure or weigh. There is nothing really there except what we call an empty appearance. So this is also a very important concept to contemplate and meditate on.
