Hello Im Skill Incarnate and Welcome to My Games Review Series. My reviews cover indie games that i have bought, had gifted to me and have been provided by developers for review.

In this episode I am am returning to strategy gaming with Kaiserpunk, developed by Overseer Games and published by Elda Entertainment, who released the Medieval City Builder Game Patron. Kaiserpunk is a city builder game taking place after the end of the First World War. The player takes control of a group of soldiers that have become disillusioned by the horrors of war. They have decided to break off and create their own colony to create a more peaceful way of life, but find that the responsibility of building a new home are many. You will need need to plan out and build homes, farms and warehouses, create an industry through mines, factories and mills and research new technologies to unlock new buildings, tools and resources. Finally your people will need to navigate relationships with countries accross the world, fostering trade and cooperation to promote alliances with your neighbours, along with preparing for the inevitable war that will take place against rival factions seeking to take what you have built.

Kaiserpunk is one of the most complex city building games that ive ever played, with an extremely technical building and city management system, requiring the player to track many different resource types, and understand a very detailed production system to produce complex goods. The city building aspect of the game is similarly challenging with the player needing to consider building synergies and dependencies when planning out their city layout. The Hud and the Resource Overview Reports were also a little hard to understand, requiring a few attempts to read and understand. While my initial experience in the game was a little confusing, once i understood the games building system and how to create production lines via factories and warehouses, the game really started to shine for me.

I understand that Kaiserpunk has had some mixed reviews on steam, and did not resonate with fans of City Building games, but despite these issues i did enjoy playing the game. So if your looking to check this game out, then just be aware it is a little rough around the edges and does not have the level of polish that is present in other city building games

Please note: All opinions in this video are my own. Game was provided by the developer for review purposes
