I definitely agree with his last statement. It's not about Chinese Power (Political, Economic, Military) so much. It is about all of those minor things. But it's 95% about the threat of the U.S. Dollar falling, loosing value, BRICS, and China building Global Trade, Infrastructure, Investment, etc. which ultimately supplants the U.S. Dollar (with the Dollar losing its value) and sees the Yuan Renminbi become the Global Reserve Currency by 2040 or 2050.

I must add one more point: China's dissidents and defectors have actually made a non-negligible contribution to China's rise. These individuals completely deny everything about China, thoroughly distort the country's current reality, incessantly promote the "China collapse theory" to the West, severely exaggerate the challenges China faces, and refuse to accept the actual state of affairs in China.

What pleases me is that the governments of Western countries rely on such individuals to assess China. This has left them entirely unprepared to cope with China's rise and has allowed us to achieve our current development without any disruption from external factors.

Once upon a time, long long ago, the USA represented the shining city of the hill, respect for human rights, democracy, rule of law and due process, no cruel and unusual punishments, equality before the law, freedom from corruption in civil affairs, high standards of education and equality of opportunity for all. At that time, we (The Netherlands, here) cheered from the USA, emulated her, invited her to be our ally. At that time, long long ago - really, a very long long time ago - an ideological confrontation with China, buttressed by economic and military measures, might have been supported by most of the world.

But today the USA has none of its former saving graces. There is no respect for human rights, democracy is failing, rule of law is falling by the wayside, due process is ignored when sending innocent people to foreign gulags for cruel and unusual punishments, the poor in the USA have become destitute, and the middle class has become the struggling hard-working poor, government at many levels is corrupt right up to the office of POTUS, who today is the Liar in Chief and Head Grafter of modern history. Standards of education in the USA are the lowest in the developed world, medical care is denied all but the richest, and the model of government is now modelled on the Russian oligarchic kleptocracy. The lights have been turned out and the now dull city has slid from the hill into the abyss of decay and collapse. No one anywhere in the world has any justification what so ever for joining the US Cold War II against China. None at all.

And I hope our ASML will resume selling China its best machines as soon as possible. If ASML, kowtowing to Trump's Crazy Circus of Evident Insanity (capitalized: it is a proper noun) and maintains the embargo, China will sooner than we can count the number of tulip bulbs in a wooden shoe, will have developed their own 2 nm lithography machines, or perhaps have jumped directly into atomic deposition, leaving ASML scrambling to catch up.
