Q. How can you motivate kids to put speed reading to practical use in their daily lives?
A. Beginning in the first week of practice, you may give your kids ideas on how they can use their speed reading in practical ways (i.e. speed reading a book at the doctor's office while waiting, finishing a juvenile chapter-book in 15 minutes or less, get into the habit of reading a book a day.

ALSO: Have fun contests! Set fun goals! Invent games that create excitement, or stir the imagination!

Q. I understand what I'm reading while I'm going through it, but I quickly forget it.
A. This is normal. Especially at first. The part of your brain that you use for speed reading is different from the part that you use for normal reading. The problem is that the speed reading part of your brain has never been used before, so it is weak. It takes some time to develop the strength to remember the story. At first it doesn't have the strength to hang on to anything at all. Later it will hang on to some things, but only briefly. Finally, after a few days or weeks of practice and regular use, you will be able to hang on to memories of what you read very well. Children make it through this process much more rapidly than adults do.

Q. I can't speed read myself. So, how can I expect to teach my kids to speed read?
A. Easy. Just follow the video lessons, and MAKE IT FUN, like everyone else. ANY non-speed reader can guide a little kid to read faster. If your children are becoming more fluent, AND ARE HAVING FUN, then you are succeeding. Don't compare yourself or your kids with anybody else. Just have fun and progress forward the best that you know how. That's all that matters.

Q. With this Video series, is it required that my child begin with LEVEL #1 and continue up through LEVEL #8?
A. NO. There is no required beginning point, and no required ending point for any child. You can use any video for your child, and you can end whenever you want/need to.

As soon as your child is ready to begin Speed Reading in simple chapter books, he is welcome to do so, at any point, no matter what LEVEL # video he/she was practicing at.

The purpose of this video series is to provide the "spark" that inspires your children to begin experimenting with Speed Reading on their own. Once a child understands the basic concept of viewing multiple words at a glance, and converting them into a movie in their mind, then nobody can stop him/her from learning to Speed Read.

Q. What if my 3, 4, 5 or 6-Year-Old isn't interested in Speed Reading?
A. No problem. Just skip it for now. I never force Speed Reading on anybody. But you may want to try it again in 6 to 12 months. The next time you try it, DO IT WITH A MORE FUN-BASED STRATEGY (ie. Games, contests, prizes, etc). When Speed Reading is made to be fun and exciting, kids are almost always interested.
