LEVEL #4. Boy Who Cried Wolf. Aesop. SPEED READING for 3, 4, 5, and 6-Year-Old Children. Try it Now!
LEVEL 4: SPEED READING FOR 3, 4, 5 AND 6-YEAR-OLD CHILDREN
Early on, it is IMPORTANT FOR PARENTS TO HAVE GOALS WITH/FOR THEIR CHILDREN.
This will mostly involve FUN, EXCITMENT, encouragement, motivation. (ie. the parents have GOALS, but the kids "just want to have fun."
Young children don't always understand how GOALS can help them to achieve things.
Here are a few possible long-term goals that parents could work towards:
1. Speed Read one children's book each day. - ([not at first, of course, but in a year or two]. It is a good goal if your kid can finish a book in 10-30 minutes--even an easy children's chapter book). Your child will quickly learn that: IT DOESN'T TAKE A LONG TIME TO READ A BOOK. This can be a good strategy, even if these are short children's books that are less than 100 pages long. This a BIG DEAL. One student said "A Book A Day Keeps The Doctor Away." That's a great quote, IMHO.
2. Speed Read for 20-30 minutes each day. Similar to #1, but no specific goal about number of books.
3. Start and build a BOOK COLLECTION of good E-books, on your computer. This can easily be done FOR FREE. I have a collection of 15,000 free e-books that I downloaded from Gutenberg.org . Gutenberg.org has books for people of all ages and education levels. (But be aware: most of the e-books on Gutenberg.org were written more than 75 years ago).
Each of these 15,000 books has an expired copyright. So, I can share my books with my friends without fear of violating copyright laws. I also have 800 e-books in Spanish (for my Spanish-speaking friends) that I also got from Gutenberg.org. I recommend that you do the same. You can carry over 30,000-50,000 books on a single Flash Drive (if you download the versions without all the pictures). You'll never run out of good books to read!
In the short term, just have fun with the kids. Don't worry if they aren't progressing towards your goal quickly enough. As long as they are having fun, and are making a consistent effort, they will eventually do quite well. Even if it takes many, many months to reach your long-term goals. Every child progresses differently. So there will be differences in the progress and ultimate skill level of each child.
-----------------------------------
Don't forget to ALWAYS stay strong in the 4 basics skills of Speed Reading:
(ie. THIS 4-STEP TECHNIQUE, as taught in LEVEL #2):
1. NATURAL VISION--See ALL the words in each page,
at once.
2. VISUALIZE--FOCUS: Convert these words into
PICTURES & VIDEOS in your mind.
3. RELAX--Just FOCUS on seeing the "VIDEO in your
mind" as clearly as you can--nothing more.
4. DAILY PRACTICE--Give yourself a few minutes
each day to Speed Read through FUN, EASY
stories, books, e-books, etc. This
will strengthen your brain, to Speed Read
faster and better.
READY, SET--GO!!!
