AFRICAN STREAM IS CLOSING DOWN

This post is, sadly, a farewell to you, our beloved followers and supporters. In the face of relentless attacks from the imperialist empire, we have made a painful decision to close down African Stream, a channel that many of you have come to love and trust.

This decision has not been arrived at lightly. However, the assaults that have come in the wake of the baseless accusation by the then-US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on September 13 2024 - claiming that African Stream is a 'Kremlin-aligned propagandist' outlet - have made it impossible to continue with our work.

Within days of Blinken's accusations, social media giants, including YouTube, Meta, Google, and TikTok, removed our accounts despite the US government not providing any evidence to support its claims. We were also demonetised on X. These actions severely affected our ability to generate the funds needed to keep our operation running.

Our personal social media accounts have also been subjected to shadow bans, further curtailing our reach. The assaults have left us with only one option: a tactical retreat.

We are eternally grateful for the support you have provided to us over the past three years, particularly in the last 9 months since we were smeared and deplatformed.

Your support is the reason why we grew into such a formidable force that we would make it all the way to the White Press briefing. Your support is why decided to keep fighting over the last 9 months

we kept going helped us grow into a formidable and dependable anti-imperialist pan-African news outlet. Your feedback in the comments, your DMs and shoutouts in the streets carried us forward.

We take pride in the work we have done since we began in 2022. We have brought attention to often-overlooked or misreported African stories. Our parting message to you, our dear followers, is to keep fighting, keep organising and keep the pan-African flag flying.

We will stop posting until July 1, 2025, aside from some documentaries from Liberia and Mali that we will not be able to complete by then.
