The 2026 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 is here and it's the most powerful production GTI ever built. With 325 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque, this anniversary special edition celebrates 50 years of GTI heritage with absolutely incredible performance. Professional driver Benjamin Leuchter set a blistering 7 minutes 46 seconds lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, making this the fastest production Golf ever recorded on the Green Hell.

This isn't just another special edition. The Golf GTI Edition 50 features a tuned 2.0 liter turbocharged engine that produces 60 more horsepower than the standard GTI. The optional Performance package takes things even further with semi-slick Bridgestone Potenza Race tires, forged lightweight wheels, and an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system that saves 11 kilograms of weight.

The chassis has been completely reworked with a lowered suspension setup, enhanced DCC sports chassis, and a front differential lock that delivers exceptional grip and handling. Inside, you'll find the classic GTI plaid seats with Racing Green accents, red seat belts, and a leather steering wheel featuring the exclusive GTI 50 logo.

Available in five colors including the exclusive Dark Moss Green metallic and legendary Tornado Red, the Golf GTI Edition 50 represents the ultimate evolution of Volkswagen's hot hatch legacy. Production begins at the end of 2025 with deliveries starting in early 2026.
This could very well be the final combustion-powered GTI as Volkswagen transitions to electrification, making the Edition 50 a true collector's piece and the end of an era for hot hatch enthusiasts worldwide.
