RUTH is one of two books in the Bible named after a woman. Ruth became a proselyte of Judaism during the times of the judges (Acts 2:10; Eph. 2:12). She fulfilled the will of God as a virtuous woman during a time of national apostasy.

Ruth demonstrated the true act of cleaving in regards to marriage and religion (Gen. 2:24). She followed the common law principle of a marriage coverture. The marriage of Boaz and Ruth pictures the Lord Jesus and the Bride of Christ (Eph. 5:31-32). God's grace toward Ruth was evident by placing her in the lineage of the Messiah through the house of David and this established the monarchy of the Lord Jesus within the tribe of Judah. The book contains 4 chapters and 85 verses.
