NEHEMIAH is a continuation of the rebuilding of Jerusalem, It records the rebuilding of the walls ofJerusalem, the internal hindrances by frustrated people during the rebuilding, and the economic and spiritual reforms. Malachi records the apostasy and apathy during this time.

The book provides spiritual insight for the ministry (Rom. 15:4). It reveals the struggles of rebuilding the life of a person ruined by the world. Israel as a nation pictures born again saints with eternal salvation. Ezra pictures justification of the soul; Nehemiah pictures sanctification and consecration of the life; and Esther pictures the glorification of the saint.

The book is a doctrinal picture of the rebuilding of the nation of Israel after 1948. The main adversaries are frustrated Arabs and envious Edomites who reject the truth that the Abrahamic Covenant was inherited by Isaac, Jacob, and their children (Neh. 4:7; Gal. 4:22-31). The book contains 13 chapters and 406 verses.
