Steve Bannon: Ted Cruz, Dude, I’m not exactly the most religious guy in the world. And I know you’re, you know, Mr. Bible. When you talk about the Genesis thing— isn’t our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the new covenant?

Now, you know, I’m Catholic, and Catholics, as everyone knows, aren’t that intense about the Bible. I think that’s changing now, but especially when I was growing up, it wasn’t like that. But in the Mass— the Catholic Mass— at the most solemn part, it says: “the new and everlasting covenant.”

This whole thing was one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever heard in my life. A grown man— a grown man who claims to be a Christian. The New Testament is obviously very important. It’s one of the foundational elements. But the New Testament is called the New Testament for a reason. Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, is the new covenant. A new covenant was made.

And is that the reason for Israel? Look, we’re one of the biggest defenders. I think we’re the biggest— one of the biggest defenders of Israel and the nation of Israel out there.

But this can’t go on. It can’t. It’s not helping Israel. He’s part of the problem there. That guy, you know, promotes himself inside Israel as a manipulator of U.S. presidents, a manipulator of the American political process. That has to stop now. It has to stop— for the good of Israel, it has to stop.
