COMBAT BRIEFING NUMBER 1215 – WEEKLY SITUATION REPORT"
Date: June 20, 2025 | Theater: Ukraine Special Military Operation"
Prepared for: Strategic Analysts, Military Planners, Defense Observers"
Operational Overview:"
From June 14–20, 2025, the Russian Armed Forces conducted six group strikes utilizing high-precision weapons and attack UAVs. These strikes targeted and successfully destroyed Ukrainian military-industrial sites, fuel and energy infrastructure, air defense radar assets, drone production facilities, storage and launch platforms, arsenals, and temporary deployment points of Ukrainian forces, special operations units, and foreign mercenaries. The precision and coordination underscore Russia's continued strategic emphasis on attritional, deep-reach targeting aimed at crippling Ukraine’s long-term war-making capacity.
"Frontline Developments:"
" "North Group:"
Advanced deep into enemy-held Sumy Oblast and liberated Novonikolaevka. Intense combined arms operations targeted multiple Ukrainian formations, including mechanized, ranger, and airborne assault brigades. Ukrainian losses exceeded 1,250 personnel, alongside the destruction of 22 armored vehicles, 25 cars, 24 field artillery systems, 11 depots, and 2 EW stations.
Key Impact: Effective neutralization of Ukrainian forces in forward defense belts north of Kharkiv.
" "West Group:"
Liberated Moskovka and Dolgenkoye in the Kharkiv region. Targeted and dismantled mechanized and national guard brigades. Ukrainian casualties surpassed 1,480 with the loss of 7 armored vehicles, 58 vehicles, 4 guns, and 12 EW and counter-battery systems.
Key Impact: Weakening of Kharkiv’s outer eastern flank and denial of operational maneuver space.
" "Southern Group:"
Improved tactical positioning across the Donetsk front, degrading 8 Ukrainian brigades. Losses included 1,390 Ukrainian troops, a tank, 10 armored vehicles (including 3 US M113s), and 12 artillery guns.
Key Impact: Consolidating Russian control around Konstantinovka and denying Ukrainian resupply routes.
" "Center Group:"
Key territorial gains include the liberation of Zeleny Kut, Ulyanovka, and Novonikolaevka (DPR). 3,410 Ukrainian casualties were recorded, alongside the loss of 43 armored vehicles, 13 artillery pieces, and 34 support vehicles.
Key Impact: Significant attritional blow to Ukrainian centralized brigades, marines, and unmanned system units.
" "East Group:"
Continued offensive momentum into Ukrainian defensive depths, particularly in Zaporizhia and Donetsk. Ukrainian losses totaled 1,350 troops, a tank, 12 armored vehicles, 54 vehicles, 15 artillery pieces, and 6 EW platforms.
Key Impact: Fragmenting Ukraine’s ability to maintain a coherent defense across multiple southern axes.
" "Dnepr Group:"
Neutralized coastal and mountain assault brigades in Kherson and Zaporizhia. Resulted in 470 personnel losses and degradation of mobility and EW capabilities via destruction of 54 vehicles and 15 EW stations.
Key Impact: Attritional wearing down of reserve formations along the Dnieper River’s western bank.
"Strategic Strike & Air Defense:"
Air defense systems were highly active, intercepting 29 JDAM bombs, 8 HIMARS rockets, and 1,190 UAVs—562 of which were intercepted outside the designated operation zone, signaling increasing Ukrainian attempts at deep strikes.
"Cumulative Totals (Since February 2022):"
" "Aircraft destroyed:" 663
" "Helicopters:" 283
" "UAVs:" 64,585
" "Tanks/Armored vehicles:" 23,982
" "Artillery & Mortars:" 26,413
" "MLRS units:" 1,572
" "Special vehicles:" 37,058
"Operational Analysis & Implications:"
The Russian Armed Forces are executing a comprehensive strategy focused on the erosion of Ukrainian operational resilience through sustained combined-arms offensives, infrastructure targeting, and high-volume tactical attrition. The continued liberation of settlements, neutralization of artillery and EW platforms, and disruption of logistics nodes collectively reduce Ukraine’s ability to regenerate combat power. With growing control over key logistical corridors and increasing degradation of Ukrainian air defense and drone systems, Russian forces are shaping favorable conditions for follow-on operations deeper into contested zones.
