Hello everyone. In tonight's Bible study we continue in our series on the book of Revelation.

We are in chapter 2 discussing the letter the Lord Jesus sent to the church located in the city of Ephesus which was in modern day Turkey.

During our previous study we took a look at the commendations the Lord gave to the church. Today we take a look at the condemnation of the church.

Please remember the role that the Lord Jesus is acting in over His church. Jesus is the High Priest of our salvation hence like the nation of Israel, the priest is God's emissary to administer all things to His children.

Jesus therefore is our intercessor, our home inspector, our doctor, our father, our comforter, our counselor, etc. He's our all in all.

During His inspection of the church at Ephesus, the Lord points out the most dangerous thing a child of God can do. What is that? Leave our first love.

What in the world does that mean? It means that we either become more obsessed with serving the Lord that we don't spend any time with the Lord we are suppose to be serving.

It's like a man who works 14 hours everyday to support the family but none of them are awake when he leaves for work nor when he returns home from work. They have the benefits of their husband and father's hard work but not the husband or father.

This story plays out in Luke where Martha and Mary are both busy serving. Martha is serving in a service capacity while Mary is serving by simply loving the Lord's presence through listening to His word.

Jesus commend's Mary service. Jesus did not condemn Martha's service however He did tell her that Mary's service was best and most beneficial. Why?

Because Mary's first love was the Lord and the Lord's word. She will forever have the comfort of the scriptures.

Martha's first love was the Lord's work which one day will ultimately come to an end in her life however the word of God will abide with Mary forever.

Which will you chose?

Tonight's study is 1 hour and 8 minutes in duration. I have broken it into six segments. This is segment 1 of 6 titledHello everyone. In tonight's Bible study we continue in our series on the book of Revelation.
