Obama fined people for not having health insurance - Then Joe Biden made Americans pay hundreds of billions to give illegal migrants free healthcare - and all Republicans voted against both moves.
The Individual Mandate under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), was signed into law in 2010 and required Americans to have health insurance or pay a penalty.
By 2016, the fee was $695 per person or 2.5% of household income - whichever was more
In 2021 - Democrats under Joe Biden started giving illegal migrants ( and those flown into the country through his parole programs, or allowed into the country through his CBP One App) free healthcare costing American taxpayers between $141-172 billion
Democrat states like California, Oregon, and Washington expanded coverage to illegal migrants.
California is Estimated to spend $9.5 billion in 2024-2025
Colorado’s OmniSalud program and Washington’s Cascade Care cost ~$100-200 million each year combined.
In 2017 - President Donald Trump eliminated the individual mandate penalty through the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act - Every single Democrat voted against the bill - meaning they wanted to keep fining people for not having insurance.
In February of this year Trump signed an Executive Order "Ending Taxpayer Subsidization of Open Borders" stopping federal taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal migrants and restricting federal funds from going to states that protect illegal migrants
In addition,
In President Trump's Big Beautiful Budget Bill - the $600 reporting threshold for apps like CashApp, Venmo and PayPal will be eliminated - every democrat in the house voted against this bill that will also extend the 2017 tax cuts.
That $600 reporting threshold was introduced in the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, passed by Democrats with Vice President Kamala Harris as the tie-breaking Senate vote.
It lowered the IRS Form 1099-K reporting threshold for third-party payment platforms from $20,000 and 200 transactions to $600 with no transaction minimum, starting in tax year 2022.
All Democrats voted in favor, All Republicans present for the vote - voted against it.
