The Unhinged Question Dem Sen. Slotkin Asked Pete Hegseth On The Guard In LA…His Response Wrecks Her

Posted • June 18, 2025: On Wednesday, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth appeared before the Senate Armed Services Committee to answer questions on his budget. However, Democrats were immediately going after him on other issues. We reported on his encounter with Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), but there was a lot of unhinged action from the Democrats. The questioning from Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) was particularly over the edge. She asked about the military's involvement in dealing with the anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles. She berated Hegseth to "be a man," and to list the orders given regarding arrests. She wouldn't let him respond and kept talking over him when he tried to answer. Again, Democrats keep showing they don't know how to speak with Cabinet secretaries. She went truly off a cliff at the end of this clip. Hegseth patiently explained that orders were already public.

In other words, if she wanted to know and didn't just want to perform at the Senate hearing, she could have asked to see them or found them. Then he explained they weren't "arresting" anyone, that members could detain someone for their safety, but then they turn anyone over to the police. (…)
