"Sheriff of Wichita" is a 1949 American Western film directed by R. G. Springsteen and written by Robert Creighton Williams.

The film stars Allan "Rocky" Lane, Lane's stallion "Black Jack", Eddy Waller, Roy Barcroft, Lyn Wilde, Clayton Moore and Gene Roth.

Synopsis:
It has been almost five years since the outlaws have stolen the army payroll from Lt. Raymond D'Arcy. While claiming that he gave the money to Major Bishop, neither the money or Bishop have ever been found and Raymond was convicted of the theft. Raymond escapes from prison and is at an abandoned fort, with a letter, looking to find the truth about the robbery.

Nancy Bishop, the Major's daughter, is seeking to prove that her father, now missing for five years along with the money, did not steal army funds as charged and sends five letters inviting those she thinks were involved to an abandoned fort. Raymond and other members of Major Bishop's old command assemble there, where "Rocky" Lane, the Sheriff of Wichita, also arrives posing as one of the invitees, to return Raymond to prison...
