25-year-old Kianna Jackson killed in Brandon shooting

BRANDON, Miss. — Authorities in Brandon are investigating a fatal shooting that left one person dead and another hospitalized following an apparent murder-suicide attempt near a local fast-food restaurant.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:51 p.m. on Monday, June 17, near the McDonald’s located at 132 Stribling Lane.

Officers with the Brandon Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the area and arrived to find two individuals with gunshot wounds.

Brandon Police Chief Joseph French confirmed that one of the victims, identified as 25-year-old Kianna Jackson, was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.

Her identity was confirmed on Tuesday by Rankin County Coroner David Ruth.

The second individual, identified as 27-year-old Jhonterryes Dampier, was located nearby with what investigators believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He was transported to a local hospital, where he remains under medical supervision. His current condition has not been released.
