“You know how long we take now for even organically grown chickens to go from the hatched egg to the market?

When I first started doing this 15 years ago, I told people how alarming it was that we were getting a chick to market in four months instead of a year. And then it went from 18 weeks to 16 weeks to 14 weeks to 12 weeks.

And now I just recently read a report that even organically raised chickens are going to market in 8 weeks.

Now, the poultry industry, with the backing of our government and with this backing of legislation, insists that there are no hormones used in the poultry industry.

Then how? What accounts for that change? The trick is, in the field, when a modern farmer buys eggs, he buys fertilized eggs and signs a contract to buy the food only from that egg supplier. And these are big multinational companies.

He also signs a contract that he will not try to find out what's in the food.

Organic labels now mean nothing when 8-week “free-range” birds never see sunlight. The real scandal? Your tax dollars subsidize this through bloated agribusiness handouts and weak-kneed regulators who’ve swapped spines for industry consulting gigs.

Until we slash the red tape protecting corporate secrets and defund the bureaucratic middlemen, this factory-farm fraud will keep plucking taxpayers and consumers alike.
Diet and Nutrition: Many farmers are contractually forbidden from even knowing what’s in the feed they’re giving these birds.

Why the secrecy? It’s likely because the feed may contain synthetic amino acids, growth-promoting drugs or even arsenic-based compounds some of which have been banned in parts of the world due to health risks.

A Consumer Reports investigation found that antibiotic-resistant bacteria were present in over 60% of raw chicken samples they tested from U.S. grocery stores.

Even “organic” chickens are not safe from this industrial system. While the label implies purity, many loopholes allow questionable practices like fast-growth breeds and industrial feed to persist under the radar. This rapid growth is not natural
