Canadian Indigenous leader says he was ‘filled with rage’ before ‘intense’ conversation with Trump

Steven Crowchild, a Canadian Indigenous leader, said he was “filled with rage” and nearly left before Donald Trump’s arrival at the G7 summit, due to the pain Trump has caused globally.

After praying and consulting with his community, Crowchild stayed to have a lengthy conversation with Trump on the tarmac, hoping to highlight peace, clean water, and Indigenous issues.

Wearing traditional regalia and speaking in his language, Crowchild shared treaty medals with Trump, emphasizing his people’s long history, the Associated Press has reported.

Though uncertain if Trump listened, Crowchild chose diplomacy over anger, standing proud as he represented his First Nation community.
