Witnesses report, and the footage corroborates, that Senator Alex Padilla abruptly entered a briefing by U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, visibly angry. Without at first identifying himself—and unrecognized by many due to his relatively low public profile—Padilla made a direct lunge for Noem while shouting. When intercepted by her security detail, he continued to push forward and fought with agents, attempting to reach her. Senator Padilla’s behavior was erratic and aggressive, and clearly resembled an attack. The consequences that followed stem solely from his own actions. This video serves as evidence.
