Hand carving pilot wings - October 2024

Part of the process of hand carving USAF pilot wings. I've tried several different methods for transferring an image to the wood. I like to free-hand stuff whenever possible, but when a thing needs to look like the actual thing that it is, you need a template. For several years, I've been using a vinyl cutter to transfer temporary vinyl directly to the wood. This a far and away the best method that I've tried, but it does take some time and equipment to set up.
