Hand Carved pilot wings - removing waste - October 2024

I usually keep the entire piece of wood intact while I'm carving if at all possible. It gives me more options for clamping the workpiece to the bench and if the clamps mar the edges of the workpiece, that part just gets cut off anyway. This is a set of USAF Command Pilot Wings carved out of cherry wood.
