Episode 871: The Seven Churches of Revelation 2 and 3. Ephesus Part 1

Hello everyone. In tonight's Bible study we begin our journey through the seven churches addressed by the Lord in Revelation chapters 2 & 3.

The LORD God gave our Lord Jesus Christ the book of Revelation. The Lord Jesus then commanded the apostle John to record everything that He reveals.

In that revelation was contained the history of the church age or the age of grace.

The messages to each of these individual churches to reveal several things:
1. The church will disseminate the gospel
2. The church will be persecuted
3. The church will be infiltrated
4. The church will have imposters leading her
5. The church will turn to religious activities
6. The church will restore the true gospel
7. The church will ultimately become apostate

These are the characteristics of each church during all seven eras of the church here on earth.

Yet each era has its own unique characteristics that outline a specific duration of time during the age of grace.

These seven periods align with the seven parables given by the Lord in Matthew 13.

We will also look at the geographical location of Ephesus along with its 1st century culture. While this may seem petty to some, it is of great importance when studying the word of God. One must understand to whom the scriptures was written and the environment of where they were living determines much of the context.
