Story of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves
Long ago in Persia, there lived two brothers — Ali Baba and Cassim. Ali Baba was a poor woodcutter, while Cassim was a wealthy merchant.

One day, while cutting wood in the forest, Ali Baba saw a band of forty thieves approach a hidden cave. The leader cried “Open, Sesame!” and the cave door magically opened. After they left, Ali Baba entered the cave using the same magical words and discovered a treasure trove filled with gold and jewels. He took some and returned home.

When Cassim learned of Ali Baba’s fortune, greed overtook him. He went to the cave but, in his excitement, forgot the magic words to exit. The thieves found him inside and killed him. When Cassim did not return, Ali Baba went looking for him, found his body, and brought it back with the help of his loyal and clever servant girl, Morgiana.

The thieves, realizing someone else knew their secret, plotted to kill Ali Baba. But Morgiana’s wit and bravery saved him again and again. She discovered the thieves hiding in large oil jars and poured boiling oil into them, killing them. Later, when the chief disguised himself to get close to Ali Baba, Morgiana uncovered the plot and killed him too.

In gratitude, Ali Baba freed Morgiana and gave her great honor in his household. Ali Baba and his family lived in peace, knowing the secret of the treasure.
