Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
Suzuki Roshi is a great Zen master that taught in the California, San Francisco area, principally in the late 1960s. This teaching is very important, he says, when you realize that everything is empty, meaning we need to look carefully and experience directly the emptiness of phenomena. The fact that nothing is able to be found when we look for it, nothing. There's nothing to hold on to. There's no there there, and when that happens, that experience arises. There's nothing to do. Therefore, your mind is calm, like a clear sky. There's nothing else to do. There's nothing to figure out. There's no more problems to solve. There's just the peace of knowing that all is empty. There's nothing to grasp. This is spiritual satisfaction.
