Judge declares mistrial on rape count in Harvey Weinstein’s sex crimes retrial after jury chaos

A New York judge declared a mistrial Thursday on one of the charges in Harvey Weinstein’s retrial after the jury foreman refused to continue deliberations, citing fear of other jurors.

The jury had already convicted Weinstein of a criminal sex act involving Mimi Haley and acquitted him on another count, but failed to reach a verdict on the rape charge involving Jessica Mann.

Mann said she’s willing to testify again if needed.

Prosecutors plan to retry the case, while Weinstein’s attorney alleges juror misconduct and intends to appeal, ABC News has reported.

Weinstein maintains his innocence and faces a lengthy prison sentence from prior convictions.
